How You'll Serve:
Like many Native American people, the Mescalero hold a deep respect for their elders—and consider taking good care of the elderly to be of utmost importance. For that reason, you will most likely be working on the homes of older people. The repairs we will be doing are needed to preserve the life of the structures there, as well as provide for the health and safety of the residents; Projects like porches, sturdy steps, wheelchair ramps, and painting to protect the siding. This will be an awesome opportunity to explore a rich native culture and learn about traditional ceremonies here where many people still hunt for food. Once they get to know you, most residents will be happy to answer your questions or teach you a bit of their history. You will be assigned to a home for the week where you will create lifelong relationships. Every year, the Group Mission Trips team dedicates extensive time and energy to creating a new Jesus-centered program experience through morning and evening programs, crew devotions, and youth group devotions (included in participant handbooks). Programs are designed so that you don't just look at a stage, but look to Jesus.

The remaining amount will be due at least ONE WEEK (June 22nd) before the trip leaves, either through IMT Let's Go funds, the trip participant's payment, or by applying for scholarship opportunities (https://forms.gle/6JJjQABMSCMDJZK47). If the total amount is not collected by the cut-off date, then the student will NOT be able to attend the trip.
